Special was very good fun, especially after the new artist took over from volume 11. Apparently the new HGSS arc will have Red, Green and Blue as 19 year olds e_e.

Just wanted to ask; I've found the Jhoto arcs to be pretty tedious and was wondering how much I would be missing if I just skipped right to Hoenn.

You can skip any of the arcs and be fine. I skipped most of Yellow, skimmed RS and skipped Emerald all togther. Each arc is seperate and the only recurring elements are the main characters.

IDK why you'd skip GSC though, that one rocked .__.

RS was probably my favorite, you figured Ruby was a homo, then he's all like 'yeah, fuck you I have trauma how do think you'd feel if a Salamance was beatin up on ur woman?'

And they killed of so many people that I kind of cried, then when it ended happy I was like, "Oh shit! Now I look stupid."

Same way at the end of Fullmetal Alchemist, everybody's dying right and left, but you just can't tell if they're being revived or not.
