New at CAL! (Updated January 8) - CAL has increased the number of Gym Leaders on the roster up to 10! This allows you as challengers an easier time collecting your 8 badges. Check out the League Challenge page for updated rules, and go challenge our three new leaders today!
- Art has been added to our Images page on the main menu! All of your favorite CAL banners and sprites are in one place now--be sure to check it out! We'll be updating the page as new images are created.
- CAL's annual user awards, CAL Commemorations, have just been completed--read up on the 2009 winners here! We appreciate all of your votes--thanks to everyone who participated!
- This month (January) is the first ever CAL Laddering Month! For the duration of this exciting event, join your fellow CAL members on your favorite Smogon shoddybattle ladder under a CAL account to promote the site! For more information, check out the Laddering Month topic in our League Announcements forum.
- CAL's first official tournament, the Dragonair Invitational, is off to a roaring start! Hosted annually by El Blecko, this tournament brings the best players from every competitive community together for some epic battles. Though the tournament is invitation-only, it's still an exciting event for spectators. Keep up with this year's DI by checking the Tournament forum regularly.
- Sub-Challenges have been refurbished, with new leaders manning many of the positions! Read up on the games on our Sub-Challenges page and challenge the leaders in our forums!
- CAL's official competitive tutoring program, CALibur, is up and running! Though currently in the middle of its third round, keep an eye on the CALibur forum for sign-up topics if you're looking for a spot with our ever-expanding group of certified tutors in the future!
- We're beginning the process of uploading our pokemon analyses onto this site! Forretress was the first to be added, followed shortly be Gengar--expect plenty more where that came from! (Want to contribute to this project? Check out our Analyses & Articles forum for information on how to get involved.)
- With the advent of tournament directors, CAL is pleased to announce that regular users now have the ability to host tournaments. Check out our two newest--CAL's Uber League and Nothing to Hold--on our Tournament page!

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Crazy Amazing League!
The CAL is a shoddy-based competitive pokemon site with an assortment of challenges and features sure to satisfy any fourth-generation battler! Founded in 2007, the CAL has grown into a vibrant, talented and welcoming community over the course of the past few years, making it a great place for both new and veteran players.
One of the most popular sections is our famous League Challenge, where players attempt to become “Champion” by defeating 13 of CAL’s finest in a competitive replica of the leagues found in-game.
In addition, CAL also hosts numerous creative sub-challenges, strategy articles, pokemon analyses, inventive tournaments, and an expansive set of forums.
With all of this content, players are sure to find something of interest! Why not take a look for yourself?
